André Miagui is a São Paulo-based artist working in painting and drawing. Since beginning his practice in 1999, he has used pastel as a central material, later extending this language through oil stick, pigment, and other drawing-based processes. His work returns to images that already carry cultural weight—canonical paintings, astronomical signs, and figures from social history—and places them in new visual situations.

His bodies of work move from astronomical imagery to the histories of Black labour and representation in Brazil, as in Luz da Esperança. Across these different series, Miagui treats painting as a place where images from different periods can be tested against contemporary systems of circulation, technology, and power. His solo exhibitions include Zeitgeist: Entre Mundos at the Câmara Municipal de São Paulo in 2022 and Dissociação Coexistente at Casagaleria, São Paulo, in 2024.
