José-Gonçalves-artista

Born in 1966, José Gonçalves is a Brazilian artist whose background in Architecture and Urban Planning—earned at the State University of Londrina, Paraná, in 1986—marked merely the beginning of his artistic journey. In 1991, he turned to painting, exploring the visual and thematic possibilities of the medium. José is renowned for exhibitions both in Brazil and abroad, demonstrating a unique ability to capture visual and emotional fragments in his work.

His exhibitions reveal a constant evolution in style and approach. Since his first solo exhibition in 1992, he has participated in numerous shows, notably at venues such as the Zilda Fraletti Art Gallery in Curitiba and the Judi Rotenberg Gallery in Boston. His 2015 exhibition "Recent Works" at Jco's Fine Art in Los Gatos, California, exemplifies the maturity and refinement of his art. José also explores themes of memory and space, as seen in "Interiores" at the Londrina Art Museum and "Aflorando Memórias" in Curitiba. The 2014 exhibition "M de Marilyn à Madonna" at the Roberta Britto Art Gallery in São Paulo demonstrated his skill in weaving cultural complexities into his art.

Furthermore, his work has been featured in international initiatives—such as the "Paraná Europa Program" in Modena, Italy—highlighting his recognition and impact beyond Brazil's borders. José Gonçalves continues to evolve as an artist, pursuing a path that embraces both contemporary painting and reflection on the environment and cultural memory. He remains a significant figure in the art world, creating works that both challenge and delight audiences across the globe.
